Some provinces require candidates to first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and then attend an interview or sign a performance agreement before nomination.
Start-Up Visa Program
This program targets innovative entrepreneurs who want to start a technology-based or scalable business in Canada.
To qualify, you must:
- Have a qualifying business idea
- Obtain a letter of support from a designated Canadian venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator
- Meet language and settlement fund requirements
This is one of the few direct federal immigration pathways for business people and offers permanent residence if conditions are met.
Self-Employed Persons Program
This program is designed for individuals with relevant experience in:
- Cultural activities (e.g. artists, musicians, writers)
- Athletics (e.g. professional athletes, coaches)
To qualify, you must:
