Study in Canada
Open the doors to a world of Opportunities
Canada is one of the world’s most popular destinations for international students. With high-quality education, a multicultural society, and a pathway to permanent residence, studying in Canada opens the door to a world of opportunities.
Obtaining Admission
To study in Canada, you must first be accepted into a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). DLIs are colleges and universities approved by the Canadian government to host international students.
We can help you choose the right program and guide you through the admission process to maximize your chances of success.
Study Permit
Once you have an acceptance letter, the next step is applying for a study permit, which allows you to stay in Canada legally while you study.
Most students must apply for the study permit outside of Canada, but some may apply from within, depending on their status.
Study permits also allow:
- Renewals if your program is extended
- Bringing your spouse and children (they may be eligible for work and study permits too)
Work While Studying
One of the biggest advantages of studying in Canada is the ability to work while you study.
Work eligibility for students:
- You can work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions
- You can work full-time during scheduled breaks (e.g. summer, winter holidays)
- No additional work permit is required if it’s a valid study permit with work authorization
You may also be eligible for:
- On-campus employment
- Co-op/internship programs as part of your curriculum
- Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after completing your studies
Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows international students who have completed eligible programs at Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) to work in Canada after graduation.
What is the PGWP?
The PGWP is an open work permit that allows graduates to work for any employer in any location in Canada. It gives graduates valuable Canadian work experience that can be used to support future permanent residency applications through programs such as Express Entry and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Validity of PGWP
The duration of your PGWP depends on the length of your study program:
- Programs between 8 months and less than 2 years: PGWP may be valid for the same length as the program.
- Programs of 2 years or more: PGWP may be valid for up to 3 years.
- You can only receive one PGWP in your lifetime.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for a PGWP, you must:
- Have completed a full-time program of at least 8 months at an eligible DLI.
- Apply within 180 days of receiving your final transcript and official confirmation of program completion.
- Have held a valid study permit at some point during your studies.
Why the PGWP Matters?
- Allows you to stay in Canada legally and gain work experience.
- Boosts your chances of qualifying for permanent residency.
- Employers do not need an LMIA to hire you under a PGWP.
